On July 27, 1974 Christine Hansom and John J. Hansom (Hansom) bought a Sequoia doublewide sectional home (the home). Shortly thereafter it was delivered on two flatbed semi-trucks to a property Hansom rented. Citizens Bank of Michigan City (Citizens) claimed a purchase money security interest in the home. A certificate of title was issued for the home. Cltizens security interest was noted on the certificate, and they retained control of it.
